For film-buffs - The Galway Film Fleadh
is a six day international film event held every July. It is one of Ireland's great cultural success stories, an event that attracts great films and top directors and actors from around the world. Taking place this July from, 10 – 15 July with over 100 feature films throughout the week.
For culture vultures - The Galway International Arts Festival
#GIAF, is one of the most important cultural events in Europe. During a whirlwind two weeks every July, 16th – 29th July 2018, writers, musicians, performers and artists descend on the city in a creative collision. A showstopper of a festival with a host of world-class theatre, music, visual art, talks and street theatre for all ages to enjoy.
If you fancy your bets at horse-racing, the Galway Racing Festival

Become a history buff and explore the history and culture of Galway courtesy of the weeklong National Heritage Week
programme from 18th – 26th August. Each year events range from medieval fairs, night-time bat walks, wildlife walks and lectures, classical music and poetry recitals, traditional music sessions, storytelling, historical re-enactments, and local history walks and talks. Check out the Galway Events
The Galway Oyster Festival,
the world’s longest running oyster festival returns from 28th – 30th September. A celebration of seafood, each year this festival attracts crowds who want to get a taste of the unique Galway oysters.
With the World Oyster Opening Championships and a Gala Mardi Gras that visits different venues throughout the evening, starting with an Oyster and Prosecco reception, parading to the second venue for a starter course and finish up at the final venue for main course, desert and dancing ’till the wee hours!
